Select Judge Feedback: “Hello, I’m a thermal engineer at MIT Lincoln Laboratory. Good job determining that the game teaches you about denominators since that isn’t stated in the game. The way your team connected the math concept to common day-to-day activity such as sharing pizza and baking was great. The pizza and cake graphics were a nice touch too. It was a bit unclear to me how the game works but I’m glad the fundamental mathematical concept came through on the game.

You are correct in connecting the math concept to real industry processional. I built a few furniture pieces in the past few years and I use fractions as part of determining how tall I want my pieces to be. As a thermal engineer, I use it all the time when I convert F to C. Keep playing the St Math games and think about how you use these math concept outside of the game and school. It’s all around you :)”

“Hi, I’m a Software Engineer at Liberty Mutual. I create websites for other employees at Liberty Mutual and ensure they can access certain types of data. This helps them complete their tasks at work.

Your team did a wonderful job explaining the Robot Fraction game. You very clearly explained how to lay Robot Fractions and what concepts it was teaching. I enjoyed reading that it helped the team learn how to split fractions with different denominators as that is a very important concept to learn! I also really enjoyed the pictures you included! It was great to see how fractions are both used inside and outside of school as it showed the importance and relevance of fractions in our everyday lives. I would have liked to see more examples of how it Robot Fractions helped you understand how to split fractions with different denominators or how it was able to help you understand that concept.

I don’t directly use fractions in my job but at times when we think about computers and memory, binary and floating point numbers (decimals), fractions are something we think about.

Again, great job with your project and I wish you the best of luck in your educational journey!”
