UXBRIDGE — Superintendent Michael Baldassarre and Principal Dr. Michael Rubin are pleased to share that Uxbridge High School students showcased various Capstone projects during the 2024 Innovation Showcase at Medway High School on May 1.

The Innovation Showcase at Medway High School was expanded this year to include students from Uxbridge High School and Wayland High School. Twelve Capstone projects were displayed in total, four of which were presented by Uxbridge students.

The UHS projects included:

  • Package Anti-Theft Box by Sean O’Day, Gage Nichols and Harrison Lopes
  • Car Curriculum by Ezekiel Hamel, Lucas Defreitas and Luke Dow
  • Golf Swing Tracker by Brianna Moss, James Bernard and Dylan Bibeault
  • UHS Wi-Fi Network Speed Issues by Samuel Abdel-Nour, Chris Szajna and Nathan Fuoss

During the showcase, judges viewed each project and asked students about their process, challenges and final product. The teams were evaluated on how well they defined and researched their problem and developed clear objectives; how well they designed a prototype, communicated the construction process, tested their prototype, acknowledged shortcomings and discussed next steps; and how well they presented their project, used effective visual aids and responded to questions posed by the judges.

“The Innovation Showcase was a valuable experience for our students, allowing them to present their work and receive feedback from industry professionals and local educators,” Principal Dr. Rubin said. “Our student teams have put a lot of time and effort into their inventions and designs over the past several months and we thank Medway High School for welcoming our students to this fantastic event.”

Students across Massachusetts are also preparing for an Industry-Applied Learning Student Showcase to be held in Boston on May 10 by the One8 Foundation and Mass Learning Project. Students in grades 5-12 will share their STEM and Applied Learning projects with industry professionals.
